In 8th century, Nikko was founded and it consists of 2 shrines and 1 temple.

Especiallt Toshogu shrine is very magnificent and is known as a world heritage

In Toshogu shrine, you can see many artistic architecure, especially many animal in sculputure. They are considered as a symbol of peace.
one of famous animals is Sleeping cat or 3 wise monkey. In ancient times, there was no zoo, so it's rare for ordinary people to see animals.
Since animal sculpture in this shrine ia so real, some say Toshogu is Disneyland in those day.
